How a game turns into a tree
You play
Open a game in your browser. It's free and there's nothing to install.
A few ads run
Short ads run around the games, the same as on any free site.
Trees get planted
The profits go to planting. Once we launch, we publish every number.
Trees that actually count
Planting is easy to claim and hard to do well. These are the four things we'll require from whoever plants for us, and the four things we'll report on.
A mix of native species
Rows of one fast-growing tree look green and support far less life. We'll fund projects that plant what belongs there.
Local people do the planting
Projects owned by the people who live there tend to last longer. We'll favor partners who hire and train local planters.
Survival is checked
A seedling in the ground isn't a tree yet. We'll count a tree once the partner has checked that it survived, and we'll publish the survival rate.
Receipts, not promises
Every payment and every planting report goes on the public ledger, together with the partner's own verification.
What we won't claim
Playing doesn't cancel out your own emissions. We don't sell carbon offsets and we won't call anyone carbon neutral.
A planted tree isn't a grown tree. Forests take decades and some seedlings won't make it, which is why we report survival.
We won't show a tree as planted before the partner has reported it.
We can't promise big numbers. Free games earn what their ads earn, and the ledger will show exactly that.
Pick something quick
Browser games from partner studios, in the genres you'd expect. The full lineup is announced at launch.
